Mrs. Lester’s 7th grade students at Glen Fork spent Columbus Day digging a little deeper into the facts surrounding Christopher Columbus’s journey. Students debated his role in history and discussed how different people may have different views of what really took place. Students did a great job sharing their ideas and perspectives!

A few of the Glen Fork Tiger Mentors and Student Council members spent the morning at Baileysville Elementary and Middle School reading and doing a Halloween project with kindergarten and 1st grade students. We love being able to let our students help in various ways throughout our county! We are so proud of them for stepping out of their comfort zones to share with others!

Glen Fork 8th grade students had a GREAT day visiting Marshall University Flight School! Students were able to learn about the program and what it takes to pursue a career as a pilot. They also had an opportunity to practice flying in the simulator and climb into one of the newest planes on site. It was definitely an exciting visit!!

Due to the power being out at Herndon Consolidated, Herndon Consolidated ONLY will be closed on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. All other schools will be back on regular schedule.

Due to continued power outages, issues with phone lines, downed trees, and storm damage- Wyoming County Schools will be closed Monday, September 30, 2024.

Message from:
Kimberly Sibo-Runion, Director of Auxiliary Educational Services and Attendance:
Due to the unsubstantiated threats made to area schools last week,
Wyoming County Schools will be accepting parent notes for any absences that occurred from last week only(Sept. 9- Sept. 13 , 2024). Please ensure that all written excuses are submitted to your school as soon as possible for proper documentation.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this time as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students.
Thank you!
Kimberly Sibo-Runion

Parents,
Students will receive an email early this week with a link to their GSA video score report as well as the access codes to login to the family portal. If your child does not receive his/her email, please reach out to the school for the access code.

Attention Families:
Wyoming County Schools have been made aware of an ongoing issue in Kentucky and a message that had been put out by Mingo County Schools. There have been no threats towards Wyoming County Schools. We have collaborated with the Sheriff’s office. Our schools do an amazing job keeping our students safe, and happy while they are learning.
We appreciate the vigilance of our schools and communities. For questions, contact your child’s school.

This is a notification for parents of all newly enrolled preschool and kindergarten students, as well as all incoming first grade students and second grade students who had been considered at risk following last year’s screening. The West Virginia Department of Education Child Find Initiative requires that a screening be conducted to assess your child’s speech and language skills to ensure that their communication is within their developmental age level. Results of each screening will be sent home with your child, and if further evaluation is necessary you will be contacted by the speech language pathologist. If you do not wish to have your child’s speech screened, please contact the school to let them know that as soon as possible. It is our goal to ensure that every student in Wyoming County Schools receives the most effective educational experience.

Attention WCS Employees:

Glen Fork treated our students who have had perfect attendance all year to a special lunch today! We appreciate all their hard work and the support from their families! We know it takes a lot to reach this goal!
