Title IX

Equal access. A respectful learning environment.

Wyoming County Schools does not discriminate on the basis of sex in its education programs or activities, including admission and employment, as required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and its implementing regulations.

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Concerns may include sexual harassment, sexual violence, or unequal treatment on the basis of sex.

Furthermore, the Board does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, ethnicity, ancestry, sex (including gender status, change of sex, or gender identity), pregnancy, age, blindness, disability, veteran status, military status, genetic information, socioeconomic status, physical appearance, sexual orientation, mental/physical/developmental/sensory disability or any other characteristic protected by law (collectively, "Protected Classes"), or any other legally protected category in its programs and activities including employment practices (See West Virginia State Board of Education policy 4373).

Questions about Title IX or the district’s response to a concern may be directed to the Title IX Compliance Officer or the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.
