We would like to congratulate the Wyoming County Career and Technical Center’s Practical Nursing Program for their successful initial accreditation visit with COE (Council on Occupational Education).  COE is an accrediting institution for post-secondary programs.  An institution must fulfill certain criteria before becoming eligible for accreditation through COE.  Accreditation status and length of accreditation will be determined in June. The WCCTC  initial exit conference with COE visiting members stated that there were no findings or issues to be addressed.👏🏼 #ShowcaseWyCoSchools

Second grade teachers participated in a hands-on session to learn how to use their new digital resources for Secret Stories. Amy Mitchell encouraged them to become scientists in their field of teaching students how to read. Teachers were engaged in research-based activities that utilize the Secret Stories and are ready to take these tools back to their classrooms to use with their students.❤️ Today PreK teachers will gather to discover more ways to learn through play. They will receive digital resources to help build the foundation of their education using the Secret Stories through songs, dress-up, drama, stories, books, and more.📚 #ShowcaseWyCoSchools

Amy Mitchell provided teachers in kindergarten and first grade a training this evening.  The hands-on session was to learn how to use their new digital resources for Secret Stories. Teachers were engaged in activities that align with the Science of Reading. They created Reading Ropes to see how fundamentally crucial the Secret Stories are to teaching reading. They will take these research-based strategies and tools back to their classrooms to use with their students.📚 ‼️Upcoming opportunities: Second grade teachers will meet Thursday, 4:30-6:30. PreK teachers will meet on Friday, 1:30-3:30.

Communities In Schools Facilitator Mrs. Amber completed a toothpaste activity with 3rd grade at Mullens Elementary. In this lesson, the toothpaste tube represented people and the toothpaste represented words. 3rd graders were challenged to return the toothpaste back inside of the tube and were unsuccessful. Students learned that just like toothpaste, words can not be taken back once said. 🗣🤭 #LoveMyWVSchool
