Due to expected incoming weather and being on a Winter Weather Advisory, Wyoming County Schools will be on a 3 hour delay on Friday, December 5, 2025. We will monitor weather closely throughout the night. Stay safe and stay warm.

Glen Fork K-4 and Headstart students had a special visit today from WV Author, Chad Story. During the visit, Mr. Story had students "fly" south as he talked about what Jay, the red cardinal, was doing on each step of its journey! The travels included visits to major landmarks throughout WV. They wrapped up the visit with questions and sang Country Roads! We are so grateful for the exciting visit provide by Mr. Story!

The precautionary lockdown at Westside High School has been lifted.
School administration and law enforcement have determined that the campus is fully safe, and students will be released immediately!
We extend our sincere thanks to our students, staff, administration, law enforcement, and the entire community for their cooperation and quick response during this precautionary measure. All students and staff remain safe. School safety will always remain our top priority.
To clarify our earlier message:
We are also announcing that the Celebratory Cheerleading Event scheduled for today at Westside High School has been RESCHEDULED. A time and date will be announced in the near future.
Westside High School has initiated a precautionary lockdown. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
We can confirm that every student and staff member at Westside High School is safe, secured, and not in danger. The lockdown is a temporary measure, and it is in response to an outside threat and not a situation involving the school itself.
We understand this is concerning, but please be assured that the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Please do not come to the school at this time. We will communicate the next steps as soon as the precautionary period is over.
Pineville Elementary 2nd Grade students in Mrs. Williams’ class practiced reading fluently and with expression by reading a readers theatre titled T'was The Night Before Thanksgiving. Students were excited to take turns reading using a microphone.

Pineville Elementary students in Mrs. Helmandollar’s Kindergarten class had the sweetest little Friendsgiving today! 🍂✨ Inspired by the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving book, we shared smiles, friendship, and all the cozy fall fun. 🧡📚🍽️

Of course Huff’s Pre-K had perfect attendance! No one wants to miss out on the fun!!! #LoveMyWVSchools

This month, Huff’s Pre-K learned about community helpers and staying safe, happy, and healthy. A nail tech, construction worker, sanitation worker, postal worker, and nurse visited our class to share about their important roles. We appreciate our community helpers!❤️

Road Branch’s Pre-K families joined in the fun today as they celebrated with their very own Thanksgiving Day Parade! #LoveMyWVSchools

No Pre-K tomorrow, November 21st, to allow for teachers’ scheduled planning day.

From common language and shared vocabulary to effective communication styles and team-building, our WCS leaders learned a lot—and laughed a lot—with Jim Wichman today. Grateful for time together to grow as a team in service to our students.
