Ms. Walker’s US Studies students at Wyoming East were detectives hired by the family of one of the women accused of witchcraft in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. Students searched the room for clues and recorded their findings in their detective notebooks. Students used their research to create a timeline of events and write a report determining whether the accused woman was guilty of a crime. #WarriorProud #LoveMyWVSchool #ShowcaseWyCoSchools

Mrs. Bauer’s classes and Friends of the Earth students along with community volunteers are completing a microplastic (1-5 mm) survey of towns along the Guyandotte River. They have collected 70 samples at 7 different sites so far and will be collecting more samples next weekend. The students sift through the collected samples and categorize plastics as foams, films, line, fragments, or other types of plastic. This data will help the US EPA understand what types of microplastics are found in fresh waters.
A special thank you to our community volunteers that have helped us along the way: Pam Shrewsbury with Alpha Natural Resources, Teresa Blackmon with the Solid Waste Authority, Melinda Vance Stewart, JR Morgan, Stacey Cozort, Barbara Hardy, and Jimmy and Kerri Lookabill.
