Wyoming East partnered with West Liberty University’s Loughman Crawdad graduate students to collect data on the threatened Blue Sandy Crayfish. It was an early, cold, and rainy Saturday morning in the Tug River, but Mrs. Bauer, Emma Dodson, Haley Mosley, and Payton Shrader had so much fun and learned a ton. The threatened Crawdad is BLUE! 🔵🦞 Because of Project Crawdad at Pineville Elementary, Payton knew the scientific names of each Crawdad and could distinguish their physical traits. Most high school students don’t realize that there are field biology opportunities like this as a career option, and we hope that through our partnership with West Liberty University that students who love the outdoors see this as an option.💚🖤 #WarriorProud #LoveMyWVSchool #ShowcaseWyCoSchools

Mrs. Mullins’ horticulture class at Wyoming East grew, harvested, and ate their first batch of microgreens. Micro greens are early plants that have an extremely high nutritional value. They will continue trying different methods for a bigger harvest. 🌾🌱💚🖤 #WarriorProud #LoveMyWVSchool #ShowcaseWyCoSchools

🔴RED RIBBON WEEK, which is celebrated annually October 23-31, is the nation’s oldest and largest drug prevention awareness program. Red Ribbon Week was started after the death of Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who in 1985 was brutally tortured and murdered by drug traffickers he was investigating in Mexico.  As a tribute to SA Camarena, high school friend, Henry Lozano and Congressman Duncan Hunter, created “Camarena Clubs” and the wearing of a red ribbon to show their oppositions to drugs (getsmartaboutdrugs.gov). Help Wyoming East High School honor Red Ribbon Week and raise awareness of living a drug free life by participating in our Red Ribbon Week activities.  Be brave and stay drug-free!🖤💚 #WarriorProud #ShowcaseWyCoSchools #LoveMyWVSchool #RedRibbonWeek #DrugFreeLooksLikeMe
