USDA Proposes
Decreased Funding for SCHOOL Meals
On July 1, 2023, the USDA will decrease the funding for breakfast by .15 cents and .40 cents for lunch. This reimbursement rate costs $99 per student per YEAR!!! Please ask your Representatives to support the following bills:
“Healthy Meals Help Kids Learn Act,” (H.R. 1269) introduced by Rep. James McGovern (D-MA), would permanently increase the federal reimbursement rate for all school lunches by 45 cents and school breakfast by 28 cents, with annual adjustments.
“Helping Schools Feed Kids Act,” (H.R. 1424) introduced by Reps. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), would extend the increased reimbursement rate of 40 cents for lunch and 15 cents for breakfast, stipulated in the “Keep Kids Fed Act of 2022,” through SY2023-24.

Third and fourth grade students from Herndon, Mullens Elementary, and Pineville Elementary participated in a performance by The American POPS Orchestra at Wyoming East this week. It was a great time! The Westside feeder school third and fourth graders participated in the fall. The performances were based on the story of The Three Little Pigs.🐷
Special thank you to The American POPS Orchestra for returning to Wyoming County.
